Zusammenfassung

Mit der zunehmenden Zahl ehrenamtlicher Zähler im Rahmen des bundesweitem Mausohrmonitorings (Myotis myotis) fallen "Neueinsteigern" im Fledermausschutz immer öfter vermeintlich missgebildete tote Jungtiere auf. Bei den vermuteten Zahn- und Kieferanomalien handelt es sich jedoch um unterschiedliche Stadien des Zahnersatzes beim Übergang vom Milchgebiss zum permanenten Gebiss. Durch einige Bilder wird dieses Phänomen verdeutlicht.

Abstract

Abnormalities of teeth and jaws or replacement of milkteeth?

Due to the growing number of volunteers joining in the monitoring of Myotis myotis colonies („Mausohrmonitoring") in Germany, more and more reports of apparently deformed dead young bats are being received from "new" bat workers. However, the respective abnormalities in the teeth and jaws are different stages in the normal replace ment of milk teeth by permanent teeth, as illustrated in a number of photographs.
